Susan Kansagra, MD, MBA

Dr. Susan M. Kansagra is Assistant Vice President of Population Health at the NYC Health + Hospitals Corporation. In this capacity, she oversees clinical quality improvement initiatives and public health programs implemented at the largest public health care system in the country. She previously served as Deputy Commissioner at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Under her leadership, the City of New York implemented innovative programs and policies to reduce tobacco use and combat obesity and chronic diseases thru initiatives on healthy eating and active living.
Dr. Kansagra has served on the Centers for Disease Control Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health and the New York State Governor’s Tobacco Advisory Board. She has published in numerous journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association and American Journal of Public Health. Dr. Kansagra completed her Internal Medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital. She received her medical and business degrees from Duke University.
